A 500-meter interactive race that is more than just running; it’s a journey of will, where children draw their own finish line to prove their resilience to the world.
110 orphaned children under the age of 14 participate, gathering in the heart of Gaza to break isolation and transform adversity into hope and fair competition.
The event includes recreational stations, a podium, and psychosocial support sessions aimed at boosting self-confidence and restoring smiles amidst challenges.
The Zaynab Project has commenced preparations for the “The Zaynab Project Orphans Marathon” in Gaza City, organized with the support and contribution of Phoenix Logistics for Development and Humanitarian Services. The initiative will bring together approximately 110 orphaned children for a day centered on movement, psychosocial support, recreation, and community engagement amidst the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The Zaynab Project is a U.S.-registered nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting orphaned and vulnerable children in Gaza through sustainable, dignity-centered humanitarian aid. What began as an emergency grassroots response during the war has evolved into a long-term mission focused on holistic orphan care, community support, and restoring stability for children and families living through crisis. Today, The Zaynab Project sponsors and supports nearly 400 orphaned children every single month through direct financial assistance, food aid, clean water delivery, clothing support, psychosocial programming, emergency interventions, and ongoing case management.
More than a sporting event, the marathon is designed to provide children with a safe and uplifting environment where they can experience joy, encouragement, and connection during an extremely difficult period marked by war, displacement, and instability. Through recreational activities and community participation, the event aims to support the emotional well-being of orphaned children while reminding them that they are not forgotten. Scheduled for Friday morning, May 15, 2026, the 500-meter race will begin at Barcelona Park and will include participation from community figures, athletes, volunteers, and local supporters. The event will also feature recreational activities, entertainment, and an awards ceremony recognizing the children who participate.
This initiative reflects The Zaynab Project’s broader vision of creating a future where orphaned children in Gaza are not only surviving, but are given the opportunity to heal, grow, and thrive within a supportive and compassionate community.
